Practical assignment: parallel and contrapuntal sound video

 



This video is a video that uses both parallel and contrapuntal use of sound through the classical music of Mozart. The first few pictures depict a party/ dance like seen using wedding pictures and party like pictures to present a type of music that might play at specific events. It then cuts to scenes from popular horror movies such as "it" and when pennywise starts dancing and then to the opening scene of smile. I used these scenes as they, on their own, are already eerie but by using classical music, it heightens the eeriness to make the audience feel uncomfortable.

Film poster analysis

  I think the film is about a man who hunts down dangerous robots in a futuristic city. The guns and explosions suggest violence and conflict, while the futuristic buildings and vehicles are part of the mise-en-scène, showing that the story is set in the future. I think the film belongs to the science fiction and action genres because of the advanced technology and weapons, which are common genre conventions. The dark colours and shadows also suggest mystery and crime. I think the target audience is mainly teenagers and adults who enjoy action and science fiction films, and Harrison Ford's name could attract people who recognise him from other films.
